Rafter Group is proud to see teams from Attic Self Storage, Lockall, storemore Spain and storemore Germany recognised with ten finalist places at the 2026 FEDESSA Self Storage Awards, spanning the UK, France, Spain and Germany.
The awards celebrate some of the best operators, facilities, people and initiatives across the European self storage industry, with categories spanning operational excellence, marketing, sustainability, development and leadership.
The winners will be announced at the FEDESSA Awards Night in Wiesbaden, Germany, on 24 September.
Attic Self Storage
Marketing Campaign of the Year

Attic has been shortlisted for its Attic Ale campaign, created to support the launch of its new Bermondsey store. The team transformed a 200 sq ft storage unit into a fully functioning micro-pub for one night, partnering with local Southwark Brewing Company and drawing inspiration from the nearby Bermondsey Beer Mile. The campaign was designed to demonstrate the versatility of self storage in a memorable and locally relevant way, generating eight pieces of media coverage with a combined reach of more than 60 million.
Multi-Site Operator Store of the Year

Attic’s Sunbury store has been named a finalist following the transformation of a dated former production site into a modern, state-of-the-art self storage facility. Delivered in less than nine months from acquisition to trading, the 60,000+ sq ft facility combines modern technology, high-quality customer facilities and 24/7 app-controlled access. Customer response has also been exceptionally strong, with 544 Google reviews and a 5.0-star rating at the time of submission.
Sustainability Award

Attic’s Barking store is a finalist for the Sustainability Award, recognising an approach that combines environmental performance with positive local impact. The facility achieved BREEAM Excellent certification and is operationally climate positive, with its solar panels producing more electricity than the store consumes. The submission also highlights Attic’s work within the Barking community, including local employment and work experience initiatives, charity partnerships, foodbank support and ongoing community donations.
Lockall
Expansion or Conversion of the Year

Lockall Cergy has been named a finalist for the Expansion/Conversion of the Year Award, recognising the transformation of an existing building into a modern, high-quality self storage facility. The project combines self storage with Lockall’s Maison des Artisans concept for local professionals and businesses, demonstrating the brand’s approach to urban regeneration: giving existing buildings a new purpose while creating flexible, secure and contemporary spaces designed around the needs of the surrounding community.
storemore Spain
Multi-Site Operator Store of the Year

storemore Ciudad Lineal has been named a finalist for Multi-Site Operator Store of the Year, recognising the quality of the facility and the standards delivered across customer experience, operations and day-to-day store management. The nomination reflects storemore Spain’s continued focus on creating modern, high-quality self storage facilities designed around the needs of customers.
Expansion or Conversion of the Year

storemore Hortaleza has been shortlisted for Expansion or Conversion of the Year, recognising the successful transformation of an existing property into a modern self storage facility. The nomination highlights storemore Spain’s approach to adapting existing buildings to create efficient, contemporary spaces that support the continued growth of the business.
Sustainability Award

storemore Spain has also been selected as a finalist for the Sustainability Award, reflecting the importance placed on environmental performance across the development and operation of its facilities. Sustainability continues to play a central role in the way storemore approaches new projects and the ongoing management of its portfolio.
Manager of the Year

Barbara Matacchione has been named a finalist for Manager of the Year, recognising her contribution to storemore Spain and the role she plays in delivering a strong customer experience and supporting the wider team. Being shortlisted among managers from across the European self storage industry is a significant individual achievement.
storemore Germany
Multi-Site Operator Store of the Year

storemore Jena has been shortlisted for Multi-Site Operator Store of the Year. Opened in June 2025 as storemore’s tenth German site, Jena combines app-based 24/7 access and technology-led operations with exceptional environmental performance. The building generates more than twice the electricity it consumes and achieved 94.1% energy self-sufficiency during the measured period. Customer feedback has also been extremely positive, with a perfect 5.0-star rating across all 38 Google reviews at the time of submission.
Marketing Campaign of the Year

storemore Germany is also a finalist for Marketing Campaign of the Year for its 2026 film campaign, built around the idea that “Space is not a product. Space is a solution.” Rather than focusing on boxes, unit sizes and prices, the series of 12 films connects self storage with recognisable moments in people’s lives and positions space as a solution when circumstances change. The first four films generated more than 764,000 views, with almost 30% of viewers watching to the end.
Ten Nominations Across the Group
From store development and conversion to operational excellence, marketing, sustainability and leadership, this year’s nominations reflect the breadth of expertise across Rafter Group.
Just as importantly, they recognise the teams and individuals behind that work, whose ideas, commitment and day-to-day delivery continue to strengthen our businesses across Europe.
Securing ten finalist places across four markets is a fantastic achievement for Attic Self Storage, Lockall, storemore Spain and storemore Germany, and a strong reflection of the progress being made across the group.
We look forward to joining the wider European self storage industry in Wiesbaden in September and celebrating all of this year’s finalists.
